Concrete House – Suppose Design Office

Posted in ARCHITECTURE, DESIGN on August 31, 2010 by NEUTRADESIGN

We have a total love affair with Japanese design, so we thought another post on Japanese design wouldn’t hurt. This house in Fukuyama is one of the latest works of Japanese design studio Suppose Design, located in Hiroshima, Japan.

The house is set on three levels all situated below street level. We just love the use of honest materials and the huge amount of vertical glazing gives the home a beautiful amount of natural light whilst capturing the amazing view over the city.

The Outsider lamp – Jacco Maris

Posted in DESIGN, STUFF on August 25, 2010 by NEUTRADESIGN

Now this is fantastic! Dutch designer Jacco Maris has created the Outsider Lamp collection.

Description from Jacco Maris:

The outsider is an imposing lamp for indoor and outdoor use; an intriguing object that combines decorative simplicity with a hefty dose of robust charm.

The pedestal and the arched frame are made of powder-coated steel and the shade is made of cast aluminium. The large window, made of clear glass, endows The Outsider with an illumination pattern that delights the eye. This exclusive lamp is available in black and aluminium blank and has a pedestal with bolt apertures for attachment to a hard base such as stone or concrete. Another version is available that can be embedded in cast concrete. The standing lamp is joined by a hanging lamp, an adjustable hanging lamp and a wall lamp.

Casa de Leca – EZZO

Posted in ARCHITECTURE, DESIGN, INTERIORS on August 17, 2010 by NEUTRADESIGN

Now this house is pretty clever. Portuguese architecture firm EZZO transformed a common building with no pretensions into a modern home. The outside has been somewhat transformed with the addition of metal structures and wood coating, giving a different identity to the house. Whilst the only things that are new inside the house are the bathroom, garage and kitchen!

Land Of Giants – Choi+Shine

Posted in DESIGN, STUFF on August 11, 2010 by NEUTRADESIGN

Oh loving these amazing Pylons by Choi+Shine. The designers have taken a mundane object and tuned them into statues on the Icelandic landscape by making only small alterations to existing pylon design. Genius!!
